Many of America's most accomplished leaders in technology and business gathered in Baltimore, MD, in February 07 for the 21st Annual Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference and Career Fair
The annual event, which has become the premier showplace for Black talent in engineering and technology, was one of the most successful ever, attracting more than 7,000 conference attendees from across the country to meet with more than 100 exhibitors, participate in educational seminars, and reflect on the progress minorities have made in science and technology in the nearly 50 years since the Supreme Court's Brown v. Board of Education decision integrated the country's schools.
The main event of the conference, the Black Engineer of the Year Awards Ceremony, the "Oscars" for Blacks in technology, attracted a standing-room-only audience to cheer the more than two dozen remarkable women and men who were honored for their career achievements.
More than 100 Modern-Day Technology Leaders, the young people who may be future Black Engineers of the Year, were honored separately at a luncheon where they shared experiences, anecdotes, and the do's and don'ts of professional success.
